don’t stress!

As I rush to my appointment with little time to spare, my “to do” list runs through my head repeatedly. My hands grip the steering wheel tightly as I white-knuckle my way to the right lane so I can make my exit in time, just barely avoiding being sideswiped. I slam on my brakes, and stop just inches away from the white Ford’s bumper at the end of the exit ramp. My heart is beating fast, my face is flushed and my muscles tense, and I am seconds away from having a minor panic attack.

I am sure we can all somewhat relate to this scenario in our daily grind. We live in a fast paced world full of constant activity. Experts have estimated that upwards of ninety percent of disease is related to stress. Often we forget how important it is to nurture our body, mind, and soul. There are many ways to do this, but one method I highly recommend is getting regular massage. Here are just a few of the amazing benefits of bodywork:

Physical – Relieves tight muscles; reduces spasms and cramping; improves circulation; enhances immunity; reduces scar tissue and stretch marks; releases endorphins.

Mental – Lessens depression and anxiety; improves concentration; enhances sleep quality by calming the mind; gives a greater sense of perspective and clarity.

Emotional – Promotes emotional balance.

Spiritual – When the mind is quieted, we can get in touch with ourselves on a deeper, more spiritual level. Silence the mind and you will feel inner peace.

Next time you feel stressed or overworked, try getting a massage. If you think you’re just going to get rid of a couple tight muscles, think again! You are truly receiving body, mind, and soul nourishment all in one package.

One Salon’s Massage Therapist, Maria Tomlin, is always available for consultation.  She keeps all of us at the salon from falling apart with her magic fingers; and after standing on our feet all day doing hair, we need it. All of Maria’s Signature Massages can be customized to accommodate the length and modality you desire.  To find out what is best for you and to learn more about the benefits of regular massage therapy, email maria@myonesalon.com.
