2012 Album Ghostory

I just stumbled across this band the other day and I am madly in love with their music. Their album that I’ve immersed myself in is called “Ghostory”. It was released in February 2012. It falls into the genre of indie rock, electronica, & dream pop. School of Seven Bells was formed in 2007 in New York City. Their band has had some members fall out such as one of the founding members Claudia Deheza (keyboards, vocals) left the band in 2010. Benjamin Curtis (guitar, synthesizers, vocals) died in December 2013 of T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma. The band has two prior albums equally as good called; Alpinisms (2008) and Disconnect from Desire (2010).

Their album “Ghostory” has really caught my attention due to the soothing beats and lyrical stories they sing about. Their vocals harmonize through the dreamy electronic sounds. Their lyrics are simple and straight to the point. One of my favorite songs is “Scavenger”. This song has an awesome simple nostalgic 80’s beat to it and the lyrics are so powerful. It’s a fantastic song. Another favorite song is “The Night” again awesome simplistic beat & guitar sound. Very 80’s feeling to it. They really bring a nostalgic sound while with current modern electronic sounds & vocals. You’ll definitely be bouncing your head to some of their songs and singing with them on others. What an awesome iconic band.
