For as long as she can remember, Abby Duncan has been surrounded by hair dressers. “My mom did hair, my sister did hair, and I remember my brothers and sisters always playing ‘beauty salon’ and cutting each others hair; and then of course, my mom would have to fix it.” It’s no surprise that Abby followed in their footsteps, she had the creative gene. “In high school I loved art class and that’s what I wanted to do…become an artist. I started styling my friends hair for their school dances and special events and realized, this art.”
Abby has now been a hair designer for 10 years and is a specialist in the application of both Schwarzkopf and TIGI hair color. She has been mentored and trained by several great stylists, all of whom impressed upon her the importance of continued education and advanced training. “I love the diversity of things going on in this industry. “I’m always learning something new, which allows me to grow and become a better stylist. Someday I want to become an educator for TIGI. That’s one of my goals.”
Abby enjoys all aspects of designing hair, but is passionate about event styling. “It’s why I got into doing hair. I love starting something new and then seeing the finished product. The fact that something I create can put a smile on someones face, even on their worst day, is very rewarding to me. I love my clients and I love working at One. I have artistic freedom and the opportunity to grow. It’s my home away from home.”
